Like most
individuals I obtain the majority of my information from news networks. Be them morning news shows, although that
hasn’t been accessible to me of recently, and news articles. I personally believe that in order to be a
fully function adult in society, more importantly the world, one must be aware
and current on simply put---what’s happening.
However, I find it amusing that there are addition, untraditional or
common, forms I use. Facebook. Although meant for socializing and posting
one’s thoughts and feelings, Facebook has seemingly evolved into a way of
spreading news, ideas, and events. I
find many posts that highlight a passing of an iconic figure, the remorse after
a national tragedy. Too be sure Facebook
isn’t the most reliable place to find information, but one cannot deny its contribution.
For the most
part, in the mornings before I leave for class, I sit down at breakfast and
open my MSNBC news app on my iPhone.
This is where I get the majority of my news. Now some of you may have been quick to point
out that I left out one of the most obvious and oldest forms of obtaining
information: peers. While yes it is true
that peers, family, friends, and coworkers often provide you with tidbits here
and there, I left it out for a specific reason. It doesn’t apply to me. As a college student, I, like everyone else
is more times than not too busy to sit and have a pleasant conversation on the
current world affairs, let alone have the mental capacity to make a brief
mention. That may seem silly, aren’t
college students into the news and information gather? Well yes and no. Some
are and some aren’t. I happen to be one who is.
But even I do not have the time nor patience to sit and talk about what
China did or whom North Korea threatened next to my fellows. To be perfectly honest, it never even crosses
my mind.
But I’m afraid I
may have gone on a bit of tangent. So, to summarize what I originally intended
to say, I get my news from my iPhone’s news station app.
